Our School Code of Behaviour
The School Code of Behaviour is written in conjunction with the Behaviour, Discipline & Anti-bullying policy and all parents will be asked to sign and retain a copy of this and also the Home School Agreement at the start of each academic year.
Low level inappropriate behaviour may include:
- Running in school
- Shouting inside/ calling out
- Not completing homework
- Damaging school items
- Preventing others from learning
- Not completing work to best standard
Medium level poor behaviour may include:
- Being disruptive
- Rudeness to othe
- Name calling/ making fun of another child
- Swearing
- Spitting
- Being defiant
- Stealing
- Not complying to instructions from an adult
High level disruptive behaviour may include:
- Physical abuse such as punching/ fighting
- Aggressive swearing or aggressive language
- Persistent or extreme bullying
- Persistent defiant behaviour
- Acting aggressively
- Intentionally causing damage such as damaging equipment or the premises
- Stealing a significant value item
- Continued breach of school rules or if the pupil seriously harms the education or welfare of themselves or others in the school
- Serious actual or threatened violence against another child or member of staff.
- Sexual abuse or assault.
- Supplying an illegal drug or repeated possession and/ or use of an illegal drug on school premises.
- Carrying an offensive weapon.
- Persistent and defiant misbehaviour
- Bullying and discrimination as a result of gender, race, ability, sexual orientation or background.
Sanctions (by school staff):
- Verbal warning
- Missing part of playtime
- Parents informed/ letter of apology
- Completing homework at break time
- Removed from classroom/ sent to another class (up to part of lesson)
- Asked to do work again during playtime/ at home
Sanctions (by school staff):
- Miss playtime (the whole of)
- Parents informed/ letter of apology
- Sent to see the HT
- Removed from the classroom/ sent to another class (up to a whole lesson)
All of these behaviours to be recorded in class behaviour book. Where three incidents have been recorded over a ten day period Class Teachers will inform Parents.
Sanctions (by the Headteacher):
- Internal exclusion - up to three days of playtimes. Parents to be informed.
- Exclusion - for a period of up to five days where supervision is the responsibility of the parents
- Exclusion - for a period longer than five days where supervision is the responsibility of the school and LA.
- Permanent exclusion may be used if behaviour comes under one of the following:
- Serious actual or threatened violence against another child or member of staff.
- Sexual abuse or assault.
- Supplying an illegal drug or repeated possession and/ or use of an illegal drug on school premises.
- Carrying an offensive weapon.
- Persistent and defiant misbehaviour including bullying (which includes racist or homophonic bullying).
The Headteacher will bring any serious breach of discipline or any disruptive behaviour to the attention of the parents concerned and an appropriate course of action will be decided upon.
