    School Reopening Update
Dear Parents I hope you and your families are all safe and well. I am sure, like me you were keenly listening to the Prime Minister on Sunday evening. During the past few days there has been some clarification of his address and more will emerge from the Government including the Department of Education to guide us towards the time when we can welcome children safely back into school. Several key documents have been provided. These include:  Our plan to rebuild: The UK Government’s Covid-19 recovery strategy.  Coronavirus outbreak FAQs: what you can and can’t do.  Action for educational and childcare settings to prepare for wider opening from 1st June from 2020.  Coronavirus (Covid-19): implementing protective measures in and childcare settings  What parents and carers need to know about schools and other education settings during the coronavirus outbreak?  The key messages and expectations coming through these documents include: • An ambition that all primary pupils can spend a month in school before the summer holidays. • Classes of no more than 15, with children two meters apart. • School attendance to remain voluntary, recognising the anxiety of many parents/carers. • Attendance of vulnerable children and those of key worker continues to be available. I expect further guidance from the Department of Education and West Berkshire to become available over the next week. This will enable us to formulate our plans for children to return to school when it is safe to do so as soon as possible. In the short term, nothing has changed for us at Shaw-cum-Donnington. We will continue to provide home learning and provision in school for our key worker children. I am sure you will agree, the safety of our children, families and staff, and their wellbeing, must remain the priority. Thank you for your continued support. Yours sincerely Miss V Murray Headtacher

    Food Bank
Dear Parents The Foodbank is a confidential service available in West Berkshire to support individuals or families with food parcels in times of need. Should you need this support, you can contact the Foodbank directly, email the school office - office@shaw.w-berks.sch.uk (this is a confidential address) or leave a message on the answer phone for Miss Wakefield to return your call. She can then speak directly to the Foodbank and arrange for your parcel to be delivered to your house. There will be a couple of questions asked but it is open to everyone. When the service returns to normal in the future, the school will be able to directly issue vouchers to families. (FoodBank poster attached) Kind Regards
