School Sports Funding
Our objectives:
- Improve the quality and breadth of PE and sports provision at the school;
- Increase the number of children participating in a range of sporting opportunities both within and after school, especially at KS1;
- Provide specialist teaching in a variety of sports to take children’s performance in sport to a high level;
- Develop a love of sport and physical activity leading to a sporting habit for life;
- Nurture and develop talent.
In 2013, the government allocated a sum of money to primary schools known as the Primary Schools Sports Grant. The purpose of this grant is to:
‘fund improvements to the provision of PE and sport, for the benefit of primary-aged pupils, so that they develop healthy lifestyles’ (PE and Sports – general conditions of grant allocations 2013 – 2104, DfE)
